SAVE 2024 Winter Newsletter

01Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year from your friends at SAVE!

As we approach the end of another year, we wanted to update you on how your support for SAVE is impacting the community. Moreover, on how we can go even further in the new year by counting on your steadfast support for funding programs and equipment purchases.

We are proud to announce the upcoming publication of our first book, “How Money Works.” Aimed at a target market of pre-teens, this book will fill a niche that is missed by the current education system. It will serve as a manual of basic survival skills for students wanting to understand more about business, the economy, and personal finance. The book is a 30-chapter series, geared for kids 10 to 12 years of age, on how to navigate within the U.S. economy. The book is currently in final edits with a projected publication date in 2025.

This past year, SAVE worked to restart their Afterschool student program called, “Kids Biz Club,” which was offered at Roosevelt Elementary and three other Bellingham public schools. “Kids Biz Club,” teaches 5th grade students how to develop a basic business plan, basic economic terminology, brainstorming as a group and an individual, marketing skills, basic website creation, and the power of social media in business. The cost per student for this afterschool program is approximately $750 for ‘3’ courses taught in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. The school PTAs can contribute $20 per student for materials and fundraise for scholarships, to help students who do not have the financial ability to pay our fee. The fee covers the cost of a Teacher, a Teacher’s Aide, USB computer on a stick, lanyards for the USB stick, and a handbook for both students, teachers, and aides. Our program needs laptops to meet the needs of the students who would like to enroll in our Afterschool program; a cost which many students and their families cannot afford. SAVE’s program requires computers which can be modified to work with a Linux operating system because the software is open source and does not require expensive licensing fees.

As you know, SAVE is a nonprofit 501c3, whose mission is to educate others – especially youth – on what, how, and why a vibrant economy is important. SAVE was formed and recognized by the IRS in 2015 with the purpose of:

Encourage a safe, clean, healthy, and economically vibrant community. SAVE advocates for people to live, work, prosper, conduct business, and we support the ideals of job creation for economic growth through forums and classes; SAVE promotes and sponsors activities that support this mission.”

To aid that mission, and for the specific reasons listed above, we are asking you to donate in support of our current projects. Any amount that you can give will be appreciated and if you are interested in sponsoring an entire class, please feel free to contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or you can give directly through our website at https://www.savenw.org

Thank you for your past support and interest in our mission. You can be proud that your support has a positive impact on our community.

Best regards,

Bill Knutzen, President
